Weekend Eye Exams in Edmonton: Why Sunday Appointments Are a Game Changer

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, finding the time to book an eye exam can often be challenging. However, when it comes to caring for your vision, we believe that accessibility should never be a barrier. That's why our optometry clinic in Kingsway Mall is proud to offer eye care services seven days a week, including Sundays, making it easier than ever to prioritize your eye health. In this blog post, we'll delve into why our Sunday appointments are a game changer and why we are committed to providing eye care you can understand and trust.

Eye Exams When You Need Them

At Stonewire Optometry in Kingsway Mall, we understand your eye care needs can't always wait for the next weekday appointment. Visual concerns, red eyes, broken glasses, lost contact lenses, or the need for a routine eye exam can arise at any time. That's why we have made it our mission to be one of Edmonton's few eye care clinics open on Sundays. We are dedicated to ensuring you have access to quality eye care when you need it most.

Our ability to provide extended Sunday hours is made possible by our dedicated team of four experienced optometrists. Their commitment to delivering high-quality eye care services allows us to ensure accessibility and convenience for our patients, even on weekends. With their expertise and availability, you can trust that your eye health is in capable hands.

Comprehensive Eye Care on Sundays

Our Sunday appointments are not limited to routine eye exams; we offer a wide range of services to cater to your eye care needs. Here's what you can expect when you choose our clinic for your Sunday eye care:

  1. Routine Eye Exams: Whether it's time for your annual check-up or you want to monitor your eye health, our experienced optometrists are here to provide comprehensive eye exams on Sundays. As a general optometry clinic, we offer routine eye exams to adults, children and seniors. We also specialize in providing diabetes eye care services.

  2. Updated Eyeglass Prescriptions: If you're experiencing changes in your vision or need new eyeglasses, our Sunday appointments make it convenient for you to get your updated prescription. Because we're located next to Pearle Vision in Kingsway Mall, you'll also be able to update your eyewear with the latest style and Essilor lenses. Their group of Licensed Opticians can expertly fill your new eyeglass prescription.

  3. Contact Lenses: We offer fittings, evaluations, and consultations for contact lens wearers on Sundays, ensuring that you have the latest and most comfortable contact lens options. We stock a large selection of soft disposable lenses from Alcon, Acuvue, Bausch & Lomb and Cooper Vision for same-day service. In addition, we offer home or office delivery and convenient online ordering. Contact lens fittings can often be done simultaneously with your routine eye exam, saving you from having to make a separate visit. The only thing we don't offer on Sundays is contact lens insertion and removal training for new wearers; these appointments still need to be on weekdays.

  4. Urgent Eye Care: Eye emergencies don't follow a schedule, nor do we. Our Sunday availability means you can seek urgent care without delay for red eyes, sudden vision changes, or any visual concerns. Optometrists are the best-trained people to handle your urgent eye care needs. We also work closely with the ophthalmologists at the Royal Alex Hospital. We can get you seen by a specialist if further evaluation is required, saving you hours of waiting around the emergency department. We often see patients for urgent concerns such as pink eye, red eyes, flashes and floaters, retinal tears and detachments, cataracts, glaucoma, trauma, and foreign objects (like metal, rocks, etc).

Convenience at Your Fingertips

We understand that booking an eye appointment should be hassle-free, so we offer easy online booking. You can schedule your Sunday eye exam or consultation at your convenience, saving you time and ensuring that you receive the care you need when it works best for your schedule.

Our online booking program lets you see our optometrist's availability before you ever need to enter your information.

Insurance-Friendly Services

Are you worried about insurance coverage? Don't be. We can direct bill most insurance plans, making it simpler for you to maximize your benefits without the headache of paperwork and reimbursement claims.

We also can directly bill standard government insurance plans such as AISH, Alberta Works, and Indigenous Services Canada's Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB). In addition, we direct bill most private and group insurance plans such as Telus Health, Alberta Blue Cross, Great West Life, Canada Life, Group Source, Green Shield, Cowan Insurance Group, ClaimeSecure, SunLife, Manulife, and many more.
